Source: Crawfordsville Journal & Review Tues May 31, 1938 p8

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Miss Martha Amelia Wray, 80, whose death occurred Saturday at her home three miles south of Crawfordsville on State Road 43.  Although Miss Wray’s death believed to have been due to a heart attack was sudden, she had been in declining health since she was seriously ill five years ago with pneumonia.  Born Dec 31, 1857, on the farm where she died, Miss Wray was the daughter of Henry B. and Rhoda Smith Wray.  For 15 years she was an officer in the cottage of the Glenn’s children’s home at Terre Haute. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.  The only survivors are three sisters, Misses Alice, Sarah and Dora Wray, all of whom have resided for years at the old family homestead. Rev. EA Moore, pastor of the Trinity ME Church was in charge of the funeral which was held at the home. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery here.  Pall bearers were John Nixon, Kenneth Smith, Newton Larrick, George Snyder, Darwin Daugherty and George Maxwell.  Those who cared for the floral offerings were Mrs. Clara Nixon; Mrs. Hubert Sayler; Mrs. Bessie Snyder and Miss Marjorie Armantrout.
